Catalonia's film library competition

 Back to Projects list
Location
Barcelona, Spain
Year
2012

The proposal investigates the dream world and the real world, because cinema is the art that looks like a dream while closer to us. The famous text of Plato’s Myth of the Cave, offers a good illustration of what we wanted to say, cinema and this building should represent the way to get us out of the cave and show us the light.

Formally, the proposed volume based on a very close model: the roofs of the Old Town. The abstraction of these images is materialized in a large rooftop blown up on public space as a sheet mended moving in the wind. A sheet, where the shadows verified through it would be the realization that moment almost eternal, where excess light makes the look of one who has always been in the dark. A strong stroke scale, attached to the front of the plaza, will join these two worlds.

Finalist - Catalunya's film library competition 2005 at Barcelona
