Kuma's tower is the tallest of five buildings in a project known as W48; Takada's firm is designing three of the other buildings, with the last designed by Sydney's Silvester Fuller. Kuma's building should stand out for more than its height: it is designed as a vertical urban forest that steps back from its base and climbs to the cantilevered infinity-edge rooftop pool atop the tower.

In the architect's words: "Eaves wrapping the façade are covered by sticks, which give a warm impression of the wood to the façade. The entire façade becomes a vertical urban forest by having a vegetation on each eave. Those strategies will blur and soften the profile building, and give a whole new image of the W48 precinct of the Waterloo."

The program of the development consists of 384 luxury apartments and a mix of restaurants, cafes and shops.
