SPACEGROUP is an award winning architecture and urban planning office based in Oslo, Norway. With 25 years of experience working on projects all over the world, the two founding partners Gary Bates (US) and Gro Bonesmo (NO) brought an international practice to Oslo when establishing SPACEGROUP in 1999. With the last 15 years based in Scandinavia, the company is deeply rooted in the Scandinavian approach to architecture and its relationship to the public space and site specific urban strategies, while still keeping an international perspective. Floire Nathanael Daub became a partner this year and has the responsibility of developing Scandinavia’s leading plan environment for design and implementation of Station City.
The office has a cosmopolitan staff of talented Architects from across the world; the office speaks seven different languages, together making a highly social aware office, providing unique and specific solutions to each challenge.
SPACEGROUP combines an intense research process with its design process. We are specialized individuals, which connect ourselves to a network of thinkers, researchers, technicians, engineers and environmental experts, - a network that we have established and tested over many years. It allows us to pull together - not just companies, but specific individuals - for each assignment that we are involved in.
SPACEGROUP favourite assignments are complex and challenging projects, where we can use our analytic skills and broad collective intelligence to solve ‘the impossible’. We don’t just design buildings, we design culture. We are able to follow a project from A to Z, from master plan to interior details. We make complex simple, and always push the limits. We are expert on travel and culture.
