HOSOYA SCHAEFER ARCHITECTS is a Zürich-based office for architecture, urban design and research, and was founded by Markus Schaefer and Hiromi Hosoya in 2003. With innovation as a core competence, the office is involved in building design and realization, urban design and media installations.
The office has won numerous international awards and is working on a wide spectrum of projects such as the new urban quarters HafenCity Elbbrücken and Wilhelmsburg Elbinsel in Hamburg, Germany. In Switzerland, the office won first prizes for the Engadin Airport near St. Moritz, the railroad station area and station square project of Herisau, the conversion of the MEWA-Areal in Wädenswil, the Tech Cluster Zug or the Christoph-Merian primary school in Basel. By combining academia, practice and research, Hosoya Schaefer Architects bring solid perspectives on urbanism, systemic thinking and innovative solutions to their projects, working towards a common, urban future.
