"The Shelter" Beach House

 Back to Projects list
Location
Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatán, Mexico
Year
2014

El Refugio, a house on the beach, is not a sheltered bunker to protect you from inclement weather, but a place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle and take refuge with the family, establishing contact with nature. A space to coexist in peace and harmony with oneself and with the elements.

On a beach in Chicxulub, Yucatán; interspersed with the vegetation, three independent closed volumes share a terrace that merges with the infinite sea, as if reminding us of our corporeal past and our spiritual vocation of transcendence.

This set of independent buildings consists of two houses with similar characteristics, one for support and the social area presented here, basically made up of a covered terrace, a multipurpose room, kitchen, bathrooms and a pergola roof.
