Francisco Mangado Wins Berlin Art Prize

Mangado is one of six recipients of the Berlin Art Prize 2017:

  • Architecture: Francisco Mangado (Spain)
  • Film and Media Art:  Athina Rachel Tsangari (Greece)
  • Literature: Annet Gröschner (Germany)   
  • Music: Elena Mendoza (Spain)     
  • Performing Arts: Valery Tscheplanowa (Russia)  
  • Visual Arts: Axel Anklam (Germany)

According to a press release, he is receiving the award in "recognition of his career as an architect, with works such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Asturias (2015), the Spanish Pavilion for the Zaragoza Expo (2008), the Alava Archaeological Museum (2009) and the Center Of Congresses of Palma de Mallorca (2016)." The Museum of Fine Arts in Asturias is nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2017.

The awards for the Berlin Art Prize, which was founded in 1948, will be given out on Saturday, 18 March, at the Akademie’s Pariser Platz location in Berlin.
