Southend-on-Sea is an area east of London that boasts the longest pleasure pier in the world, at over two kilometers long. The pier is is now home to a 350-sm (3,767-sf) Cultural Centre designed by White Architekter, who won a competition for the commission in 2009. The steel-framed building was fabricated at the Tilbury Docks in Essex and then shipped to its site via boat. This film documents the 170-ton building being delivered to the pier via boat and crane.
