Two Cork Houses

Spain

We are a Barcelona-based architecture and design practice, creating projects of diverse scales from urban design, to interiors and furniture. Working with circumstance and turning constraints into opportunities, we develop construction and conceptual strategies that are specific to each client, users and place. Our proposals seek to engage with each project’s physical, cultural and economic context through a combination of imaginative observation and rigorous analysis of the given conditions together with close dialogue with clients and all parties involved in the design and construction process. Among our ongoing projects are the master plan and architectural design for a 10,000m2 sustainable mixed-use and housing development including the renovation of an old tanning factory in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, a sustainable boutique hotel in Plaza del Obradorio in Santiago de Compostela and several private residences in the Costa Brava (Gerona) and Barcelona. Our work has been nationally and internationally recognized by several major architecture awards, such as the ‘Young Architecture Award’ of the 10th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, ‘First Award’ in the 7th Iberian-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, ‘First Prize’ in the AR Emerging Architecture Award, the ‘FAD Architecture Award’, and a nomination for the Mies Van der Rohe European Prize. Our projects has been appeared in national and international publications such as Casabella, Quaderns, El Croquis, A+U Japan, Domus, Area, I.D. Magazine, Interior Design, The Architectural Review London.
They currently teach at Washington University of St.Louis.
