In 2012 our studio was commissioned to rehabilitate a residential structure built just outside of Vienna on the hills of Perchtoldsdorf during the 1960s. In clear weather the view is truly impressive; with the valley of the River Wien to the north-east and the Alpine foreland to the south, views extend as far out as neighboring Hungary and Slovenia. Our design approach initially stripped the building down to its bones to allow for a conceptual approach that would transform it to meet the spatial and functional requirements of a luxurious villa of the highest regard.

The articulation of the cubic volume is informed by functional requirements such as the accommodation of the bedrooms on the stone-tiled ground level and first floor. The upper floors host the living areas and are instead kept open and provide terraces with panoramic views in all directions.
