Paperworld 2019 - Future Office | Flexibility - Frankfurt am Main

Futurƒe office | Flexibility – The Paperworld trade fair is the world's most important information and communication platform for modern office design. Every year, the trade fair in Frankfurt / Main presents the latest products and trends in the national and international paper, office supplies and stationery industry. The special show "Future Office" addresses architects, facility managers, planners, and retailers of office supplies and equipment. After celebrating its successful premiere in 2017, the third edition of the show now focuses on the subject of "flexibility". It presents the diverse opportunities that the current change in the world of work entails in a stimulating and inspiring setting. The design concept of the special show has once again been the responsibility of the architectural office Matter and its principal, the internationally renowned architect André Schmidt from Berlin, together with World-Architects. The special area "Future Office" is located in Hall 3.0 Stand C51 and will provide lectures and new ideas on tomorrow's working world all-day during Paperworld from 26 to 29 January 2019.

  • «MULTISPACE | A common ground for “user flexibility & community”»
  •
  • "The office environment should reflect the identity of a company and its users. The spatial design and topics such as digitalisation and mobility influence the perception and behaviour of users. "SHARING" should not only be applied at the workplace, but should also concern other modules that shape the behaviour of today's users. Interaction and communication as well as flexibility for future growth should be implemented with a healthy mix of analogue and digital elements and innovative design solutions. We must enable areas of communication, regeneration, and concentration for creative, varied, and activity-based work. The genius loci "CREDO" also plays an important role in "WORKING" - where, how, and what you work should be spatially located and find answers that match the user spectrum and behaviour through the design vocabulary." • «From Hierarchy to Network»
  •
  • "It's not the workplace that matters, it's the way to get there..." Today's work processes are less characterised by hierarchy and control than by self-organizing, open structures. The right level of communication and concentration is decisive for the innovative strength and productivity of a company. Future working environments must react flexibly to the different spatial requirements, release potentials for interaction and collaboration, and, at the same time, stabilise and build identity." The office with branches in Munich, Berlin, and Beijing is managed by his father, Gunter Henn, and fifteen partners. 350 employees — architects, designers, planners, and engineers — from over 25 countries draw on the wealth of knowledge gathered from three generations of construction experience and a worldwide network of partners and experts with various professional backgrounds. Continuity combined with progressive design methods and interdisciplinary research projects form the basis for a permanent engagement with current issues as well as a decisive design approach: Shapes and spaces are not merely goals, but are developed from the processes, requirements, and cultural contexts of the respective project.

This development influences and redefines the entire working environment. It is necessary to create places that improve people's physical, mental, cognitive, and social well-being. The integration of nature into the interior space is an essential aspect for reducing stress factors at the workplace. Using various projects as examples, the lecture highlights how qualitative concepts generate a balance between people, space, and technology." Oliver Kupfner

  • "What demands does the young generation that is currently still undergoing education and training make on the future of modern working environments? In the run-up to ORGATEC 2018, Sabine Krumrey, in her function as a lecturer at AMD Hamburg (Interior Concept & Design), intensively explored this topic in a semester thesis with 24 students in their second semester. After analyses, research and discussions, "WORK TO GO" was developed as a slogan and a stand concept that, as a special stand for Koelnmesse, visualises the perspective of the "Generation Y + Z" for location-independent work in a variety of ways." •
  • "Many companies are striving for a cultural change from an often practiced individual office solution to an open-plan, informal and communication-oriented office landscape. The aim sounds relatively simple - a plethora of essential questions remain: how do you actually get employees to communicate? who actually meets whom, when and where? how can open communication and focused work be combined? So: what does an informal office structure have to achieve and how does it have to be organised? This is discussed using the examples of the Netzquartier of 50Hertz and the new WSW Wuppertal headquarters." Mark Jenewein

Meeting point office of the future

Today more than ever before, creating a good office workplace is a challenge for planners. The demands on the working environment have increased enormously in recent years. Not least, the digitisation of work has simplified many tasks and made others superfluous, but it also requires a new infrastructure. Furthermore, the ongoing digitisation of buildings allows conditions at one’s workplace that could hardly be more individual. Architects, interior designers, designers, clients, and facility managers - they all come together in the field of office planning. This requires precise mutual coordination. Today and all the more so in the "Future Office".
