Domotex 2014 - The World of Flooring

 

Free Guided Tours with 9 architects, designers and journalists – in cooperation with Stylepark and Deutsche Messe, World-Architects organised Guided Tours with Susanne Brandherm, Stefan Diez, Thomas Geuder, Monika Lepel, Sylvia Leydecker, Roberto Palomba, Karsten Schmidt-Hoensdorf, and André Schmidt. The tours will be held in English or German, started at the Innovations@DOMOTEX Area in Hall 6 F30 and lasted approximately 2 hours. Each of the tours pointed out highlights at DOMOTEX 2015, the leading trade fair for floor coverings.

  • Jürgen Mayer H. is the founder and principal of this crossdisciplinairy studio. He studied at Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and Princeton Universtiy. His work has been published and exhibited worldwide and is part of numerous collections including MoMA New York and SF MoMA. National and international awards include the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Award-Emerging-Architect-Special-Mention-2003 ,Winner Holcim Award Bronze 2005 and Winner Audi Urban Future Award 2010. Jürgen Mayer H. has taught at Princeton University, University of the Arts Berlin, Harvard University, Kunsthochschule Berlin, the Architectural Association in London, the Columbia University, New York and at the University of Toronto, Canada.

  • Stefan Diez introduction to furniture design started in 1991 when for three years he worked as a cabinet maker. Diez went on to study at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart in 1996 where he attained a Diploma in Industrial Design. He founded his studio in 2003 and since then has worked in various fields of design ranging from furniture and tableware to industrial design, as well as exhibition design for companies like Authentics, e15, Gandia Blasco, Hay, Moroso, Rosenthal, Thonet, Wilkhahn and others. Some of his products have received international design awards, among others the “Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland”, the “IF Gold award” and the “red dot best of the best award”.

  • As principal of Gage/ Clemenceau Architects, Mr. Bailly, leads an array of project types for residential, corporate, retail, and institutional clients. He is known for leading professional, talented, and diverse teams through the complex coordination issues of today’s building environment. The successes of his projects rely on the high level of personal attention that he provides his clients and the project team throughout the design and construction phase of each project. With past design experience at notable New York firms, Mr. Bailly has particular expertise in the design and detailing of luxury projects that stretch over the course of his career-- most recently a large family estate in Westchester Co., NY. As an active member of the design community, Mr. Bailly provides leadership in several capacities at the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter.
