Itinerant Office's second edition of its "Past, Present, Future: about being an architect yesterday, today and beyond" project continues with an interview with Portuguese architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça, founder of Lisbon's carrilho da graça arquitectos.

Architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça graduated from the University of Lisbon School of Fine Arts (ESBAL) in 1977, the same year he started practicing. Early influences, as he recounts in the "Past" clip, included fellow Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza though also Italian architect Aldo Rossi and the Russian Constructivists. Believing that every site has its own innate qualities, Carrilho da Graça hopes his interventions improve upon what was there, as he explains in regards to the "Present." Finally, his view of the "Future," though tinged with criticism of the superficial architecture that gets attention these days, is optimistic: that he can continue to "achieve simple things in a good way."
