Born to a French architect and Mauritian mother, Eric Chavoix grew up in Paris, where he graduated from “l’Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture”. His diploma project earned him the “Eiffel Tower” prize and won a Lauréat in the contest for best European diploma. After two years at Jean Nouvel’s office in Paris, he went on to complete his first solo project in 1997; a private villa for a renowned French restaurant owner in upstate New York.

In 1998, Eric set up his own studio in Mauritius, spending the subsequent years building his reputation in modern tropical architecture in the Indian Ocean and abroad. Success in this field allowed for a varied and personal client base, developing projects not only in the region but also in Southern Africa, Europe and the United States.
