In cooperation with Gerner Gerner plus., the landscape architects Carla Lo and the agency for culture and urbanity art:phalanx, we, heri&salli Vienna- were able to win the developer-competition “Village im Dritten-Eurogate BT10”.
Together with the developer ARWAG 127 apartments are going to be built, and additionally we are entering into an interesting cooperation with Wien Work, Goodville, Volkshilfe Wien, MA 11 and the ecological playground KlimAhhh!
The CITY SHELF blends into a heterogeneous residential ensemble. Four “addresses”, four buildings of different quality of living and character create a diversified living space around a quiet courtyard. –with the City Shelf serving as a “face”in the public space.
On the one hand we react to the “loud” but also lively, urban situation with the adjacent railway line and street, on the other hand to the appealing situation, given by the height of the buildings, and orientation to the west, towards the evening sun- that represents the main component of the architectural approach.
Besides attractive, flexible apartments and connectible units, special focus in the SHELF is placed on young living.
Climate resilient district development and the topic ecology is being imparted to the young public and future generations on different levels.
A multistory free space, common rooms, a gym as a power plant, an ecological playground, a youth club, a district cinema, or alternative concepts of mobility complete the membranous character of the shelf and create a construction site overriding moment of attraction of urban life for the urban neighborhood
Depending on the position and orientation of the buildings, different layouts are developed. Maisonnettes in the wood-hybrid-buildings are combined with townhouses. Adjustable apartment layouts with home office/children’s- and reading areas are proactively planned.
Keyword: flexible living conditions.
The residential buildings are connected on nearly every floor, combined with rooftop gardens, green areas and free spaces.
What’s one of the biggest goals of creating living space?
The potential to form a community. This is represented by the City Shelf.
