San Diego, known for its mild year-round climate, is recognized as the “birthplace of California."

The second phase of the project, a glazed pavilion on axis with the northern garden entrance, replaces a much larger structure that had been added on the opposite side of the garden, blocking the western sun and breeze from the Ocean.

The new pavilion’s sliding doors open fully to the garden for special events, allowing the outside space to merge with the interior.
The two wood paneled storage elements contain services that are revealed by opening the concealed doors.

The materials used for this project are insulated low-e glass, steel, polished concrete, and wood paneling.
