SFMOMA on the go

The distinctive black-and-white striped oculus of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) can be glimpsed in this photo, where a portion of the Mario Botta museum is being demolished to make way for the expansion designed by Snøhetta. As SFMOMA describes it on their tumblr blog: "Behold, an entirely new view of our iconic oculus! ... a new bridge will lead through our Snøhetta expansion, and from this point you’ll be able to look up and see six more floors of museum." Groundbreaking for the 10-story addition happened at the end of May, with the reopening set for 2016.
