Phantom. Mies as Rendered Society

Photo: Andrés Jaque Arquitectos
It is a little known fact that Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion from 1929 is a two-story building. In PHANTOM. Mies as Rendered Society, architect Andrés Jaque unearths objects from the pavilion's basement, moving them up to the usually empty upper floor. Many of the carefully displayed pieces are necessary to maintain the pavilion and its guise as a "monumental collective construction." The exhibition is organized by the Mies Van der Rohe Foundation and the Banc Sabadell Foundation and runs until 27 February, 2013.
