The building built in the 70's is centrally located on Barbarossaplatz. As part of an energetic refurbishment of the multi-familyhouse - the penthouse has been reconstructed. It is located in the 6th floor overlooking the rooftops of Cologne. The loft, with its size of about 90 square meters is compact but very spacious. Through clear and openfloor plan structure, and the integrated and custom-built installations, given the spacious character of this top floor apartment. It is also surrounded by an approximately 90 square meter roof terrace. Through the floor to ceiling windows and the glass doors you can look out over the sights of Cologne. For example, the cathedral can be admired through the elaborate floor plan from the living room couch, from the high-quality integrated kitchen, and out of the tub. The lead architect Frank Lohner told the Kölner Stadt Anzeiger - who was visiting the Tag der Architektur: "The penthouse is an alternative to the classic building refurbishment. There are so many flatroofs in Cologne, one could use these wonderful." The client like this solution and is very pleased with the unobstructed view of Cologne. Inspired by the Bauhaus the materials were chosen - reduced and high-quality. With the concern for quality and clarity some large apartments in the building have been also renovated, new windows and doors were installed and the facade is upgraded with a thermal insulation system to today's standards.
