Berliner Platz lies in prominent position in the centre of the town, close to the main shopping centre, the harbour and the Kieler Förde with its terminals for the large ferries.

The pavilion, with its triangular shape, relates urbanistically to the important view-axis towards the Förde. This direction is incorporated in the stripe-shaped formation of the site.

The glass facade can be opened wide by sliding elements, so that the interior and exterior can mingle. This idea is intensified even more by the use of the same flooring - dark slate. The use of materials, such as cherrywood and leather, give the interior rooms a feeling of security.

As an enhancement to the cafe, there is an outside service, facing towards the shopping zone. The service area is squeezed behind a yellow printed façade which carries the motive of the Brandenburger Tor.

The glass facade is illuminated at dusk or at dark, so that the pavilion and the illuminated guest room look like a light sculpture.
