WAF, now in its ninth year, is set up in a unique crit format, in which architects that were shortlisted in the various typological categories present their projects in ten minutes to a two- or three-person jury, which then asks questions about the project. Broadly the categories fall into two general types: Completed Buildings and Future Projects; winners in the former are in the running for Building of the Year, and those in the latter vie for Future Project of the Year. Day one winners are highlighted below in alphabetical order by Completed Building category, with Future Projects winners listed at bottom.
