Ultramoderne's "Chicago Horizons" beat out 420 other entries from competitors in more than 40 countries (some of them visible on the Biennial's Pinterest page). BP is giving the winning team a $10,000 honorarium and a $75,000 production budget to realize the design, which will be located in Millennium Park for the duration of the Biennial (3 October 2015 to 3 January 2016) and then moved to Grant Park along the lake shore in 2016.

"Chicago Horizons" is basically a wall-free pavilion with a generous roof propped upon columns. The thin roof will be made from cross-laminated timber in the largest dimensions commercially available. The illustrations show a stair leading to a mezzanine level poking through the roof, ultimately providing views of the Chicago skyline and create a new horizon line along the lake.
