The mixed-use project that sits in the city's HafenCity area houses three concert halls, a large music education area, and a hotel. Transforming and sitting atop the Kaispeicher warehouse, the project also includes the Plaza, a 360° public viewing platform with views over the whole city from a height of 37 meters above ground level.

The last time we checked in on the project was August 2015, with the completion of the facade, which is made up of variously curved and cut panels of glass. The new facade above the former warehouse ends in a wavy roof that alludes to the surrounding waters and adds a striking silhouette to the HafenCity skyline.

The opening festivities will include concerts on 11 & 12 January 2017, followed by a three-week festival featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin's Einstürzende Neubauten. Visit Elbphilharmonie for more details.
