This year's program awarded one Best in Competition plus 23 awards (including honors, merits, and citations) in four of five categories: Architecture, Interiors, Projects, and Urban Design; no awards were given this year in the Sustainability category. All of the winners are listed below, with images highlighting some of the winners, but visit the AIANY website to see all of the projects.

The annual AIANY Design Awards program "recognizes outstanding architectural design by AIA New York members, New York City-based architects in any location, and work in New York City by architects around the globe." Accordingly, submitted projects did not have to be located in New York City; in the end only seven of the two-dozen winners are located in the five boroughs.

The jury for the AIANY 2021 Design Awards was made up of Marlon Blackwell (Marlon Blackwell Architects & University of Arkansas), Julie Eizenberg (Koning Eizenberg), Stephen Gray (Harvard GSD & Grayscale Collaborative), Andrea Love (Payette), Maria Paz de Moura Castro (Rizoma Arquitetura), and Francesca Perani (Francesca Perani Enterprise & RebelArchitette).
