With the exhibition Making a Classic Modern: Frank Gehry’s Master Plan for the Philadelphia Museum of Art closing at the museum on September 1, we take a look at a short clip with Gehry discussing his very un-Gehryesque design.

Gehry's expansion and reorganization of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is exclusively interior, leaving the museum's neoclassical exterior intact. The project adds more than 169,000 square feet of exhibition space, much of it underground, a feat he relished as early as 2002, according to the interview. The exhibition consists of large-scale models, architectural drawings, photographs, and videos.
