Junction Craft Brewing’s new head office contains a brewery, taproom, retail space, and office space in Toronto’s historical Art Deco “destructor” building – part of the R.C. Harris legacy of infrastructure buildings. This renovation takes care to preserve the original Art Deco design and industrial characters, as well as the palimpsest of additions that came after when the building was abandoned (and a favourite for raves and graffiti) while repurposing it for a technically demanding manufacturing system. The project puts the industrial processes, from brewing to packaging, squarely in the foreground within the large space, which is fronted with the bar and retail space. Designed to do double duty as an events venue, the brewery has hosted gatherings ranging from rock concerts to catered private parties (including over 30 weddings since opening) tucked within the heart of the industrial brewing area.
