From the 35 nominated projects culled from 8 countries in the Alpe Adria region and Central Europe (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia), the Piranesi Award was given to the Chapel Salgenreute Krumbach in Krumbach, Austria, designed by Bernardo Bader Architekten. The jury* said that "there seems to be a special atmosphere and silence around this [wood chapel]." Furthermore, "Everything is serving for the purpose of perfection of both shape and space, without forgetting conceptual aspects of spirituality, nature, light."

Two honorable mentions were given, including the Kindergarten Niederolang in Olang, Italy, designed by Feld72. The jury appreciated how "the house creates protective arm[s] around the children" and "how the project was scaled to meet urban context."

The other honorable mention was given to the New Social House in Caltron, Italy, designed by Mirko Franzoso Architects. The jury commended that "the project is positioned very beautifully in the landscape. It is good example of successful use of wood in contemporary architecture."

From the 24 nominated student projects hailing from 12 european faculties of architecture (Graz, Vienna, Spittal, Split, Zagreb, Pescara, Trieste, Budapest, Ljubljana, Maribor, Thessaloniki, and AA London), the student honorable mention was awarded to Floating Pool Parasite for Rijeka, Croatia, designed by students Robert Barbir, Nika Bralić, Ivana Brzović, and Ivan Bulianfrom the University of Zagreb. The jury applauded how the "project aimed to solve local European urban problems with an optimistic look in the future" and used "industrial elements in a postindustrial landscape ... to transform [the] human environment."
