Circus on the street corner – study on intersection of city

 Terug naar projectenlijst

I thought that the architecture at the intersection was an urban architecture created in an urban state that changed its attitude toward the city. Shibuya was selected as the study site, and the relationship between city and architecture was considered. Intersections become circus-like places that create chance

The intersection of Shibuya is a place composed of many street corners where the terrain and the plan mix, and has a face that reflects the quick update of Tokyo's city. Miscellaneous information such as the form and materials of the architecture built on the street corners of one of Asia's leading business districts creates Shibuya characters as objects that make up the place.

The transformation of the city results in the form of the architecture at the intersection. Shibuya was selected as the site, to investigate the intersection of the city in order to find out the connection between the city and architecture, which is our purpose in the first place. The intersection is a combination of the many street corners, which is a mirror of the urban regeneration of the city. The form, material of the building in the corner was the part of the intersection. My design is to create schools in 14 sites in 3 major intersections in Shibuya. Three of them were built as a drama school, a clothing school, and a craft school. It provides a space for people to stop-by and enjoys more than a school. To enlarge the “Vague space” of the city by architecture, I am looking forward to seeing the people after school, get together by accident in the “vague space” and communicate. The city is changing by small architectures.
