De la métamorphose de l’ancienne patinoire du HC Fribourg-Gottéron résulte la BCF-Arena. C’est une mutation spatiale qui se réalise en encerclant l’ouvrage existant d’une nouvelle structure. Elle offre un anneau de gradins additionnel ainsi que trois étages supplémentaires permettant la réorganisation spatiale du programme de la patinoire. Une spectaculaire toiture en charpente métallique, dont la géométrie entrelacée rappelle la marque des patins sur la glace, couvre d’un tenant la nouvelle enceinte et lui offre une image contemporaine.
