  Design Philosophy

Originally founded as Gary Edward Handel + Associates in 1994, Handel Architects is a full-service design firm with over 100 architects, interior designers, and LEED-accredited professionals in New York and San Francisco. We are recognized leaders in mixed-use residential design with over twelve million square feet of new and renovated space built.

Many of our projects are located in core urban centers such as New York, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, and Miami. Our approach is to create a design culture of collaboration between all the parties in the process. The result is imaginative, award winning design exceeding clients' initial objectives, delivered on time and on budget. Believing that powerful, innovative, affecting architecture starts with the city, Handel Architects has developed a portfolio of award-winning work by thoroughly examining the social, economic, political, and technological factors affecting the metropolis surrounding each individual building. Rather than reacting against these forces, it is our obligation to use their momentum to propel our design.
