More Light, Less Factory

In Kreuzberg, the so-called “light factory,” an old Berlin industrial area, hosting tenants from the art and creative scene, has been propitiously expanded in cooperation with Stöckert Architects . This multi-level, loft-like commercial building with generous windows now accommodates the new main entrance to the courtyards and stairways. The construction of the new building network takes into account the tradition of both long-established Berlin industrial yards and the surrounding, neighboring buildings. Nevertheless, the building remains independent – particularly eye-catching is the folded, prism-like facade, whose play of light and shadow changes with the position of the sun.
