The Consecration Hall built in 1899 in a Neo-Renaissance style stands majestically in the “Hauptfriedhof” in Freiburg. Build in the shape of a Greek cross the building is covered by a dome rising to height of 33 meters. The several damages sustained during the Second World War along with the makeshift repairs in the post-war years created a desperate need for renovation along with a complete overhaul of interior lighting. The lighting concept aims at enhancing the strong and distinct architectural characteristics of the building with its imposing dome while supporting its function as a place for Liturgy and concerts.
