The new roof is a folded steel framework construction. The ensuing loft consists of a self-supporting composite structure which rests on the existing building and is mounted onto the exterior walls, while simultaneously providing support for the new roof. The opening in the basement is made possible by a new interception beam, which is connected to the existing reinforced columns. This museum received the Award Prix Acier 2011.
