Rehabilitation Center
Basel, Switzerland / Switzerland, 2002 Description
The building covers a surface of 90x120m without dilatation joints. It is planned to enable a further floor to be added to the entire building as a possible extension. The flat ceilings are supported by a dynamic steel column grid whose thickness varies according to the spans it supports. The therapy pool ceiling is a distorted pyramid made of a concrete folded-plate structure.
The wooden balconies are supported by overhanging steel beams, while the connection to the entrance courtyard is covered with a 23m long pre-stressed ribbed slab. |
