Project
Parking Garage At the City Hall
Ulm / Germany, 2006
Description
The Parkhausring in Ulm is closed. On March 11, 2006, what is probably the first final public parking garage in the city centre of Ulm was dedicated and put into operation. The parking facility, a two-storey underground parking garage, is located in the city centre beneath the Neue Strasse between the Frauenstrasse and Münsterplatz. The access ways are in front of the city hall and at the crossing to the Frauenstrasse. As keynote for the design of the underground parking garage, the motto "extend the urban space into the garage" could be implemented in its full scope. About 590 parking places in the clearly arranged parking space are easily reached in a pleasant atmosphere by generously dimensioned routes, both with the vehicle and especially as pedestrian.
