In 2011, DGA completed work on this new 125,000 sq. ft., 8-story, $66 million public school for 950 K-8 students. The school is one of NYC’s first built under the SCA’s Green Schools Guide. Among other sustainability measures, about 1/3 of the energy needed to light the school comes from roof-mounted photo-voltaic cells that generate 50 kilowatts of energy. DGA’s scope of work included the development of sustainable, cost-effective architectural lighting solutions for classrooms, corridors, cafeteria, library, multipurpose room, music rooms, main entry lobby, atrium, grand stair, external gallery, auditorium, gym, and 10,000 sq. ft. outdoor playroof.
