Project
Archbishop's Palace
Eger / Hungary, 2009
Description
Eger, Hungary, 2009

The archbishop’s palace in Eger was given back to the Hungarian Catholic Church a few years ago by Egervin wine company in a very degraded state. ( In the communist era most of the Church’s properties were taken away and only returned after the change of the system).
The conception of the Primacy is to give the building a new 21st century function: it would reborn as a visitors centre.

Beside the role of a modern museum it will have missionary function too by the thematics of its exhibitions.

The elegance and richness of the baroque is combined with the restraint of the modern in the renovated building.

While the spaces are getting their original honour, the furniture will be modern and the hidden building system will meet the requirements of the 21st century.
