Project
St John's Wood Penthouses
St John's Wood Penthouses
London / Great Britain, 2012
Description
Two penthouses are being built in this air rights development on top of a 1960’s residential block in St John’s Wood. This speculative development comprises a near-symmetrical arrangement of duplex apartments, each of around 3,400 sq ft with generous terrace areas taking advantage of
spectacular views across to Primrose Hill and the City.
The scheme was approved after extensive consultation with existing occupiers and the St John’s Wood Society, as well as Westminster Planning Department. It takes a bold modern approach, reinterpreting the scale and design of the original block in a contemporary idiom. The construction will be prefabricated off site and craned into position after original lift shafts have been extended up to serve the new accommodation. At the same time a round of refurbishment will be carried out to the existing building, including provision of two additional car parking spaces and remodelling of the entrance.
The project is due for completion late 2012.
