Rem Koolhaas to Receive 2012 Jencks Award

John Hill | 09.10.2012

Rem Koolhaas will join Zaha Hadid, Peter Eisenman, Cecil Balmond, Charles Correa, Steven Holl, and others who have received RIBA's Jencks Award. The annual award goes "to an individual (or practice) that has recently made a major contribution internationally to both the theory and practice of architecture." The award is a reflection of Charles Jencks himself, who is known for his writings on postmodern architecture, but who is also a practitioner working at the intersection of building and landscape. Koolhaas is an obvious choice for the award, and if anything, the author of Delirious New York and other books outside of his OMA/AMO practice, is receiving it a little bit late. Regardless, he will be given the award at a ceremony in November, when he'll also give a RIBA lecture.
