Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger - On May 12, the Swiss duo's latest exhibition To Go for a Walk In the Woods and Unleash Ones Thoughts opens at the Buchmann Galerie in Lugano, Switzerland. On May 9, the artists will appear at i2a istituto internazionale di architettura (also in Lugano) to discuss their Eye Apples – Site specific installations (Free, program in English). Pictured is Brainforest, part of their "Eye Apples" series and a hint of what will be found in Lugano. jh

Qinmo Village in the Northwest of Guangdong Province, China, with about 1,800 villagers, is based on growing rice, keeping pigs and chickens. The income of the migrant workers is invested in bigger houses and decoration. With a project by John Lin and Joshua Balchover (rufwork) the education of the local community in many aspects is aided to shift towards economic self-sufficiency.
Studio Visit: Cannon Design- "Power House" is the intriguing name of Cannon Design’s St. Louis, Missouri, office. It's also an apt moniker considering that the impressive brick edifice once served as a coal-fired steam power station for a dozen downtown buildings. The 1928 structure, which stood vacant for three decades before Cannon Design bought it in 2007, now houses 90 employees on four floors. On a sunny and mild winter day earlier this year World-Architects got a tour the Power House.
In memory of Swiss artist David Weiss, who died on April 27, 2012, here is an excerpt of the 30-minute film Der Lauf der Dinge (The Way Things Go), his best-known project with longtime collaborator Peter Fischli. Originally exhibited in 1987 at “Documenta 8” in Kassel, Germany, the humorous and poetic work shows a series of everyday objects propelling themselves across a large studio space, creating an explosive chain reaction.
For the second year, Portuguese architects Bruno André and Francisco Salgado Ré (together known as AND-RÉ) have won the Iberian Urban Equipment Prize. Last year AND-RÉ won for the lighting design “Verso,” and this year's award in the “urban furniture” category is for their “Pac Man” recycling bins. More
