Philosophy
Founded by Jonathan Woolf in 1991, the practice earned international critical acclaim in 2003 for its RIBA Award-winning Brick Leaf House, a 1000 sq m double villa for two brothers in Hampstead. The project was the first private residence to reach the mid-list for the 2004 UK Stirling Prize and was the subject of the monograph ‘A New English House' published by Categorical Books. The building is an uncompromisingly bold interpretation of the classical villa which sets out the practice's approach: to produce light filled architecture that evokes history in a new way.
The practice's work ranges from private houses and apartment buildings through to arts, educational, commercial buildings and interiors.
With nearly twenty years experience working directly with passionate clients, we combine attention to detail with an ambition to produce buildings and interiors whose clarity and control are clearly our own yet inspired by a sensibility for what exists around us. We believe that the best buildings come from a skilled understanding of the
relationship that tradition has to innovation.
