Conceptual Contextualism

Architecture interlinks the human being, the space, technology and philosophy. Detailed information of the location in its context is gathered, usage patterns are analyzed and new technologies are researched to develop the contextual concept. Our architectural pursuit lies within the superposition of complexities. We generate buildings by means of programmatic reinterpretation, topographic continuity, urban context and differentiated spatial sequences.

Otto Kapfinger (architectural historian)
,For HOLODECK architects projects are marked by loop-shapedsequences, folding continously shifting out of the site into buildings´envelopes, tossing themselves up, and turning and sliding back into the terrain. For HOLODECK architects, the spatial loop is no mere formal pattern. Rather, a critical mass - then leading to a turnover, a loop of empiricism into a new quality – develops in their projects from the collection and overlapping of empirical data. But of course, conventional asbuilt analysis is insufficient for such a conceptual turnover - ,transprogramming‘, in bernard tschumi´s words. specific methods must already be applied in the investigative phase in order to force open linear or monocausal lines of argumentation and to bring a given situation´s concealed potentials to light. The works of HOLODECK architects today show examples of how this new sensitivity may also become fertile on the simplest occasions and with the simplest of materials, thus suggesting novel avenues for formative approaches.‘
