Public Swimming pool

 Back to Projects list
Location
Avinguda Sant Jordi, 17810 Olot, Spain
Year
2002

The project, generated from the formation of a link between the urban district of Bonavista and countryside sector Moixina-Lagos Plan, creates a controlled closed space but open to the urban landscape. A large platform with two swimming pools, defines this space as a place with water. On this public support there are five volumes two of glass and three of stone embraced by a light closure that defines the perimeter of the area. The building, with the mountain's front, creates a private garden, a protected environment where users are moving between areas of sun and shade, from open to closed as it is an urban public space. The hermetic locker-rooms, the gym-bar and the nursery's bodies become closed, while the volume created by the mesh that embraces them all, defines an open body, permeable to light and air, a space of circulation and places to stay. Depending on the light at different times of the day, the building changes, the volume shows its body of stone and the glass carefully hides itslef, it all depends on the day and captions from where you look.
