Space that spreads inward, built in a small section

The housing complexes in Japan have problems of deterioration and aging. On the other hand, those housing complexes have matured as a living environment over time, and is of great value as a target for spatial regeneration. The housing complex dwelling unit targeted this time is the dwelling unit where the husband of client was born and raised, and we received request considering the idea of regenerating the space as a new place of living when they get married. It was a request to create a new space by making the water section functional and suitable for the modern while maintaining the nice atmosphere of the housing complex and making the best use of the texture of the favorite material. The existing floor plan was 2DK, but we removed the detachable partition and changed it to 1LDK. The kitchen was changed from wall-mounted to an island type, the bathroom was completely renovated from floor waterproofing, and a dressing room was newly created and integrated with the restroom. The most characteristic of this spatial reproduction is the herringbone flooring. By connecting this from the floor to the wall, we created a sense of depth that passed through the skeleton and walls of the space, we made it so that we could feel the development of the space changing to the next scene.
