Architecture fit for its purpose
The Christoph Mäckler Architekten practice stands for an architecture fit for its purpose. We attach great importance to integrating structures into the built environment. In doing so, the built environment, made up of private living spaces and public open spaces, is regarded as “urban architecture”. Today’s urban planning, which in terms of planning strategy has disintegrated into individual disciplines, is mostly perceived without reference to materials, colours, proportions or local facade typologies. However, it is precisely these characteristics, the facades, that define the urban space in the first place. Today’s architecture neglects the overall picture of the urban environment and concerns itself, self-lovingly, with the construction of unique artefacts – buildings as works of art. “Urban architecture” is the result of the compounding of the urban planning and architecture disciplines.
