Yesterday Columbia University opened up the doors of the 60,000-square-foot Lenfest Center for the Arts on its new Manhattanville campus for a press preview. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the building is set to open next month with an exhibition of student work.

AIA New York State, an organization of the American Institute of Architects, has awarded its 2016 Firm of the Year award to WXY architecture + urban design, the multi-disciplinary practice led by principals Claire Weisz, Mark Yoes, Layng Pew, and Adam Lubinsky.

Olana, the 19th-century home of landscape artist Frederic Edwin Church in New York's Hudson River Valley, invited 21 architects and landscape architects to imagine a 21st-century version of Church's unbuilt summer house.
