Although we missed the inaugural International Bamboo Architecture Biennale last September, when eighteen works of architecture made of bamboo went on display in the village of Baoxi in China's Zhejiang province, we are grateful to photographer Julien Lanoo for documenting some of the stunning projects.

The "Jiaming Maple Park" ensemble in Beijing has been completed to a design by architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp). The practice had been commissioned with the project by the client, Jiaming Investment. The new office ensemble, which has achieved LEED Platinum certification, comprises three compact volumes. The functional layout is based on a sustainable concept with flexibly divisible office zones that can be operated independently.

The building consists of two volumes combined by a roof. Wood is the dominant building material for the facades and in the interior. The overall impression when seen from afar is of a large agricultural barn in the countryside.

MOCAPE is part of the master plan for the Futian Cultural District, the new urban center of Shenzhen. The project combines two independent yet structurally unified institutions: The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and the Planning Exhibition (PE) as a cultural meeting point and a venue for architectural exhibitions.

Nanjing Green Towers, promoted by Nanjing Yang Zi State-owned National Investment Group Co.ltd, will be the first Vertical Forest built in Asia. Located in Nanjing Pukou District (an area destined to lead the modernization of southern Jiangsu and the development of the Yangtze River economic zone), the two towers are characterized by the interchange of green tanks and balconies, following the prototype of Milan’s Vertical Forest.

PONE Architecture's Experience Pavilion at Guangzhou Design Week attempted to rediscover the alternating potential of organized construction. Urged by the question on how to integrate architecture to further interact and blend cities, environments, human beings and space, it created the construction unit, Transparent Shell. Meanwhile, it is also a reflection on creating and recreating.
