A Week of Architecture & Design

May is a month when architecture and design events converge in the United States. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention, held in Washington, D.C. this year, was followed immediately by the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York City. World-Architects was on hand for both expos and other events during a packed "week of architecture and design." Here is our report.
In February the Pritzker Architecture Prize—regarded as architecture's highest honor—was awarded to Wang Shu (b. 1963), whose firm, Amateur Architecture Studio, is based in Hangzhou, China. On the eve of the formal ceremony in Beijing, Eduard Koegel explores the themes of tradition and modernity in the work of Wang Shu.
